Mr Wear can’t resist “correcting” other writers. In this article he has a go at some of Amy Chang’s statements from her book.
“Establishment historians characterize National Socialist Germany as a uniquely barbaric, vile and criminal regime that was totally responsible for starting World War II and the most heinous war crimes in world history.”
That’s because it was. I have no idea what an “establishment historian” is though. Is it anyone who doesn’t deliberately distort historical evidence and facts to try to prove their own political agenda?
“Neither National Socialist Germany or Japan threatened to take over the world. This is discussed in detail in Chapters One, Two, Three, Four and Ten of my book Germany’s War.”
Neither country did threaten to take over the world. That does not take away the fact however, that had both countries succeeded in the war, the bulk of the world would have been under their control and neither the US nor the USSR would have been the powers they were to become post war. Germany and Japan would have been the super powers of our time.
” the Allies mass murdered more than 9 million Germans after the end of World War II. This is a savage butchery during peace time that is seldom mentioned by historians and our controlled media.”
That, Mr Wear is because it never happened. 9 million Germans were not deliberately murdered by the Allies at the end of the war. Full stop.
“These Allied crimes were worse than any crimes committed by National Socialist Germany during World War II.”
“I also don’t know how Amy Chua can claim that Stalin’s purges before World War II were less brutal than the crimes allegedly committed by National Socialist Germany.”
My intention here is not to excuse the brutalities of the Communist regime under Stalin, however Hitler murdered more people in a shorter time period and was responsible for more deaths than the Stalin regime.
“As discussed in Chapter Ten of Germany’s War, National Socialist Germany did practice racial discrimination.”
You don’t say Mr Wear….
“The term “Master Race,” so dearly beloved by anti-Germans…”
I think it might be a term used by anti NAZIS. Most people tend to differentiate between the two. Mr Wear seems not to. Whether it was used or not doesn’t really concern me.
“As discussed in Chapter Eight of Germany’s War, there were no homicidal gas chambers in any of the German concentration camps during World War II.”
Yes there were; they were at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka, Sobibor, Belzec, Chelmno, Majdanek and also in little gas vans. They also existed at places like Hadamar in Germany.
“As discussed in Chapter Eight of Germany’s War, Germany constructed crematoria in their concentration camps to dispose of people who died from natural causes such as typhus, typhoid, etc. However, Germany did not have homicidal gas chambers or a program of genocide against Jews during World War II.”
Firstly, death by typhus or typhoid of people living in conditions created by the Nazis in the first place I would not consider a natural death. So how many actually died of typhus?
According to Van Pelt in his book “The Case for Auschwitz” 1,637 people (Jews and non Jews) died of typhus. These were prisoners registered in the camp. Now the death books which contain the data regarding deaths at Auschwitz are not complete but we do have the figures for deaths at the time when typhus was a major problem in the camp: between July and October 1942.
July 1942: 4,345
August 1942: 8,507
September 1942: 7,199
October 1942: 4,492
These are total deaths and not just from typhus. The construction of crematoria 2 to 5 would have not been because typhus was a massive problem. All 4 crematoria could cremate 4,492 in ONE DAY alone!
“The atomic bomb did not help the United States win World War II. Germany was already defeated by the time the United States built the atomic bomb. Japan was ready to surrender before the United States dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”
The atomic bomb debate has been argued for decades. Historians are deeply divided on the issue of whether or not the atomic bombs caused Japan to surrender. Some of the best arguments can be found here:
To say that the bombs did not help the US win the war without looking at all sides of the debate is a tad naive.
As to the scientists who left Germany. Big error by Hitler …and by Mr Wear who pleads otherwise.
“Amy Chua’s sources for this statement is Lucy Dawidowicz’s The War Against the Jews and William Shirer’s The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, neither of which are scholarly books.”
“As documented in Chapter Eight of Germany’s War, Germany did not have a program of genocide against Jews and certainly did not murder 5 million non-Jewish Ukrainians.”
That program of genocide was decided on by October of 1941 and was planned shortly afterwards. The consensus is that approx 5.5 – 6 million Ukrainian civilians died in WW2 but as in all mass deaths the exact figure will never be known.
“As explained in Chapters One, Two, Three, Four and Ten of Germany’s War, Germany did not fight in World War II for Lebensraum or any other malicious reasons.”
Lebensraum was a key feature of Hitler’s aims and objectives.
“The primary aggressor nations in World War II were the Soviet Union, the United States, and Great Britain.”
“Hitler had never wanted war with France or Great Britain. It was France and Great Britain that declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939. Hitler had no ambitions against France or Great Britain, and all of the captured records solidly bear this out.”
Well, here Mr Wear distorts reality. It is quite correct that Hitler did not want war with Britain and France. After all, Hitler had eyes on land to the east and not the west. Saying that, the British and French could not have an aggressive totalitarian state being a threat to European stability. If the two countries had wanted an excuse to attack Germany, Hitler had given them several excuses in, amongst others, the occupation of Austria and Czechoslovakia. Britain and France of course followed the international rules by declaring war (after giving Hitler 3 days to withdraw his troops from Poland). Hitler never gave the Poles or the Soviets the same luxury.
“Historian Harry Elmer Barnes disputes the generally accepted theory of Hitler’s diabolism.”
Of course he does. He is a Nazi apologist and Holocaust denier. Mr Wear likes him.
“I recommend that she read revisionist works such as Germany’s War to gain a broader historical perspective.”
Truly, that does deserve another
